BGGridDB is an open artwork database for board games: covers, hero headers, backgrounds, logos and icons uploaded by the community and available through a public API.

The idea comes from SteamGridDB, where players have been collecting art for video games for years and launchers fetch it via the API. Board games had no such place: BGG has strict terms of use, Tesera has no logos or backgrounds, and board game apps need images all the time.

The project started as an image source for Playloop, an audio companion for board games, and is open to any other developers: collection trackers, catalogs, bots, overlays.

The project is non-commercial. Some game data comes from BoardGameGeek under the XML API license (Powered by BGG).
